Our History
1988
Founded in 1988 by Pierre Caruana, Kaskatu Horse Racing Team was started by him and his father buying their first horse, a french trotter named 'Juvennoir'. This decision was made more by his father, Alfred, with the intent to stop his son from driving around in motorbikes with all the dangers.
Pierre always loved competition and didn't take much to take this opportunity to start training driving horses. One year later in 1989 Pierre got his amateur's driver license. On the racetrack he did all the best to make his dream come true and a few months later drove his first official race.
1992
Pierre's closest brother Carl got in at only eleven years old. Spending almost all of his time with his brother Pierre took him no long to become himself a horse lover and race lover too.
He went on the race track at 14 training one of their horses following his brother's instructions. Carl got the reins and never looked back. He took up his racing career in the pony racing-category and there he mastered a talent not all have.
1994
Carl won many races including challenge cups in the pony racing-category till he became 18. At 18 he got his amateur's driver license too. This is where his brother Pierre gets back into the picture and in 1994 he bought other horses by which Carl got more experience. With a passion for horses coupled with a commitment to excellence has enabled Kaskatu Horse Racing to become today a successful team in the trotting industry. With almost 20 years experience Pierre & Carl spend 100 percent of their time devoted to their particular specialty harness racing.
They strive to do their best in order to ensure proper condition of their horses. Buying when possible, top quality harness horses has earned them winning and placing on several occasions, among other accolades. A visit to Kaskatu Farm and stables will instantly reveal Kaskatu’s expertise and commitment to excellence in the standardbred horse business. With years of successful experience, the Kaskatu team is available to help in selecting Swedish & French racing horses for trainers and owners.
2008
Today we may say that their Father is very proud with his son's dream, the dream of 'Two brothers - Racing To Win!'
2009 OffShore Dream!!!
This year we can say that we've set another step stone on our way and Pierre's dream to become a horse-trainer and driver in a foreign country became today a reality. Now we have a farm in Mantorp, Sweden wher we have all the facilities where we can train Trotters to the best form and condition. Just started a few weeks ago we already have 3 horses in training. The first horse entrusted to us is Boshoevens Crown (DE), Lonestar Somolli and Belbroughton Road followed. Actually in sweden we also own a young horse, a mare Elina Palema (SE), which is in training at another maltese citizen in Mantorp, professional trainer - Charles Degiorgio.
Kaskatu Horse Racing Team are also Local Agents and Sole Distributors of New CHEVI handcrafted quality and JOYRIDE Sulkies.
